Did you know that the Kravis Leadership Institute has two exceptional new team members? We welcome Neela Rajendra as our Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives and Sara Thompson as our new Director of Leadership Programs.

neelaNeela earned her M.B.A. from Wake Forest University in 2008 and went on to work for a strategy consulting firm based in the Washington D.C. area, to deepen her business knowledge. To that end, Neela returned to the consulting firm in 2011 as a senior associate to continue strengthening the foundations of her background in the private sector. The breadth of experience consulting provided is helping her apply best practices to the fields of leadership development and social change.  Neela’s driving passion in her work has been to develop strong leaders to create social impact.

In her new position as Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives, Neela will be responsible for leading all of KLI’s current social and commercial entrepreneurial activities, such as the two tracks of the Innovative Start-Up Award, as well as developing new programs, such as the Ashoka U Changemaker Campus Initiative. She will also be working closely with other organizations and institutes on campus, to assist student ventures and to design programs that help students develop entrepreneurial skill sets and competencies.

Sara ThompsonSara is a two-time graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she earned a Bachelor of Science from the College of Business in Organizational Behavior and a Master of Education in Organizational Development from the Department of Human Resource Education. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration at Colorado State University. She comes to us from the Midwest and brings 11 years of experience developing co-curricular and curricular leadership programs along with 16 years of facilitation experience with high school and college students and working professionals. Working in leadership education has provided Sara this amazing gift and incredible responsibility: to meet college students where they are and support them as they grow to reach their leadership potential.

As our new Director of Leadership programs, Sara will be responsible for enhancing the co-curricular leadership experience for Claremont McKenna College students. She believes in engaging the entire campus and its alumni in the process of developing leaders at CMC.
